The CW just released a new promo for the upcoming season of Arrow and just within the opening seconds we see that the writers have chosen not to simply forget Laurel. The Black Canary might be gone (for now), but her memory lives on as Star City unveils a statue of the costumed hero. I’m crossing my fingers that we will finally find out what Luarel told Oliver before her death.

Of course fans of Katie Cassidy can rest easy knowing that we will see her a lot more–earlier reports have stated that she has signed to be a series regular across Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

It also looks like we may have seen the first glimpse of the new villain for season 5, played by The Walking Dead alum Chad L. Coleman. Chad will be playing a character named Church, he is described as an imposing gangster who is looking to unite the various criminal enterprises in Star City under his own singular command. In earlier casting breakdowns, he was reportedly compared to Idris Elba’s character from The Wire, and indicated that he will set out to fill the void left by Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E.
