As most Supernatural fans already know, rock star Rick Springfield has landed a role on the hit television show and this is not just any role. Springfield will be playing the biggest wayward son of them, the “bearer of light” himself–Lucifer. No pressure Rick. Needless to say there will be a lot of eyes on him as he portrays the iconic character.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Mr. Springfield gave fans some minor details about what fans can expect from the new version of Lucifer. He said in the interview that he will be “playing against type–I play this rock guy who gets possessed by Lucifer, because Lucifer has just escaped from wherever they put him last season,” the rocker adds, “he’s (Lucifer) always looking for a human host to do this bad stuff to the world, and I happen to be that human host. It’s really fun, well-written. And the effects are insane; the other day I spent two hours in the makeup chair getting ready for this one scene. It’s really incredible stuff.”
I must admit that his insight into the character of Lucifer and the reasons he does certain things isn’t completely inspiring but I’ll give him a break, he’s got almost a dozen years or so to catch up on. He does mention that he’s never watched the show but he has heard of it. Well that’s a bonus.
