TOP 5 NEW AND RETURNING FACES
The upcoming twelfth season of Supernatural is just around the corner but before we sit down to enjoy the festivities, let’s take a look at my top 5 new and returning faces and what we can expect from them.
RELATED: Supernatural: The Crossroads – Happy Supernatural Day, SPN News and Updates
#1 – Mary Winchester: I think for most fans, the return of Mary Winchester is a big source of excitement and for good reason too. We finally get to see Mary’s story from a linear perspective and see what she will do along-side Sam and Dean. Bringing her back into the story feels right, it’s been a long time coming and can lend a hand in the development of a more personal narrative.
#2 – The New Luficer: This is an iffy one, because quite frankly–Mark Pellegrino is Lucifer. We’ve seen different versions of Lucifer before but something about this casting decision feels different, it feels like an obvious shift in a different direction. I wonder if Rick Springfield knows what he has gotten himself into? Hopefully he doesn’t suck–and if he does, he better get ready to face the wrath of the Pellegrino faithful.
#3 – Lady Antonia Bevell: Another highlight of the upcoming season is that we will be getting a helluva a lot more Men of Letters. We were introduced to Lady Bevell during the season 11 finale, where she portrayed a Women of Letters, who was keen on capturing Sam and Dean. Whenever the writers bring in the MOL, the story potential is seemingly endless and filled with lore-rich exposition and narrative; so I’m giddy as hell to see what they have planned from this angle.
#4 – Aaron Bass: Adam Rose came on to the scene during a time when a lot of the fandom were still recuperating from a less than stellar season. His character paved the way for the introduction of the Men of Letters, thereby signalling a new chapter of SPN lore. From this new chapter we received: The Thule, MOL, Golem, Dorthy, OZ and much more. It changed our perspective of the world we thought we had known for almost eight years. No pressure Adam–we are glad you’re back!
#5 – The Prince of Hell: Theo Devaney took over the role from Adam Groves, who played Gavin in season 6. Gavin is the son of Crowley, who originally died in 1723, then time traveled to 2014. Last we heard of Gavin, there were big implications of messing with the timeline and how he was meant to die. Crowley, who was still struggling with the after-effects of the MOL’s style exorcism, did not want to return his son to a timeline that would end in his death. So we are left with a big open-ended question, what has become of Gavin and what has he been up to?
Based on these five characters alone, I think we can call agree that we are in for a very eclectic and interesting season! For more SPN related news and discussions be sure to follow @CrossroadsSPN on Twitter and Subscribe to our show on iTunes.
