As the years go by it becomes more apparent that we may never see a post TNG, DS9 or Voyager era canon Star Trek installment; or at least within the foreseeable future. The franchise is apt on retelling or going back to the earlier days of Trek. Being an avid fan of Star Trek, I will happily take what I can get. However, I can’t help but pine after the picture that Shinzon painted in Star Trek: Nemesis; a bleak image of a waning Federation, all but crippled from Borg attacks and the Dominion war. It really is a story that tells itself and the opportunities for developing these stories into a fascinating series seems to be the answer to what many fans want.

As I said before, I will take what I can get and that’s why my interest with post Deep Space Nine era was piqued with the announcement of the new DS9 novel The Long Mirage.
