According to Variety, Joss Whedon is closing in on a deal to write, direct and produce a standalone Batgirl film for Warner Brothers as part of the DCU.
Whedon will be the first writer/director to make the jump from the Marvel Cinematic Universe over to DC. He was the writer/director behind ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

Batgirl is the latest addition to the ever growing lineup of DCU films in development. The studio is also working on a ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel, ‘The Batman’ staring Ben Affleck, ‘Gotham City Sirens’ with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, ‘Shazam’ with The Rock as Black Adam and standalone projects with the Flash and Cyborg.
