The search for Spock has come to an end
CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery has found its new Spock. Actor Ethan Peck has been chosen to portray Spock in season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery. Ever since the conclusion of Discovery’s inaugural season, fans have been wondering whether or not we’d see Spock. Fans of Trek know that story canon places Spock on board the enterprise at this time, so it didn’t come as a huge surprise when executive producer Alex Kurtzman announced during SDCC that audiences will see Spock.

This bit of news sent the fans into a tailspin of frenzy as many voiced thoughts on who should play the young Vulcan science officer. Some had been clamoring for Zachary Quinto to reprise the rule but as it turns out, Kurztman had his own plans for the small screen version of the character.
In a comment, Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman had this to say:
“Through 52 years of television and film, a parallel universe and a mirror universe, Mr. Spock remains the only member of the original bridge crew to span every era of Star Trek —The great Leonard Nimoy, then the brilliant Zachary Quinto, brought incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion, we searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning. Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”
As we had previously reported, Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere in January 2019 on CBS All Access.
