Star Trek: Discovery soundtrack coming to vinyl
There’s so much to love about Star Trek but one element that always stands out is the original scores for both films and television. With Star Trek: Discovery launching on to screens last last year, the producers proved that they would continue the trend by hiring film composer Jeff Russo. The music of Trek manages to captivate and pull the audience in emotionally and borrowing those important cues from scores past, Russo did just that for Discovery season 1. With a cinematic flair, each song vibrates with meaning, intrigue and builds upon our emotional expectations. It feels like Star Trek.
In many ways the music of Trek is just as important as the person sitting in the captain’s chair. There are moments throughout the last 50 years, where the music is so vital to a scene in a film or TV episode that it takes on a life of its own and essentially becomes a character of sorts and at times tells its own story. Russo managed to capture the same effect with a vibe of fluidity that furthers the musical mythos of Trek.
Thankfully, the studio has decided to give this auditory piece of art a vinyl release (which it deserves). Spectacular double LP, 140g ‘Intergalactic Starburst’ vinyl, with deluxe gatefold sleeve and inserts. This gem of a collectors item is currently available to pre-order.
