Sherlock Holmes could be the weird western we need
I can’t tell you enough how excited I was when this came across my desk the other day. Anyone that listens to my Weird West Radio podcast is well aware of my thoughts on mainstream weird west outings. The big budget Hollywood system never seems to nail the genre very well.
“HN Entertainment is reporting that they’ve learned the setting for Guy Ritchie’s threequel, and it won’t be in Europe. This time, Holmes and Watson are supposedly going to be headed to the Old West of San Francisco.”
That said, the previous films have been fairly strong big budget pictures — which is more than enough to give me confidence in the third outing to potentially be a fantastic piece of Weird West; especially due to the fair amount of mysticism that encompasses most of the atmosphere that director Guy Ritchie has utilized in the previous two films.
Warner Bros. has recently given Sherlock Holmes 3 a holiday release date of December 21, 2021. Unfortunately, this is all we know at this time but you better believe I will keep all you weird west weirdos updated on the film’s process.
